These terms of use govern your access to and use of the JP Izu website. By using this site, you accept these terms. If you don't agree with any part of these terms, you should stop using the site. We know nobody reads these things, but we tried to make ours actually useful and clear.

What This Site Is

JP Izu is an editorial travel website. We publish travel guides, recommendations, and practical information about the Izu Peninsula in Japan. All content is provided for informational purposes only. We are a media company, not a travel agency. We do not sell travel packages, book accommodations, arrange tours, or provide travel agency services of any kind.

The information on this site represents our editorial team's experiences, research, and opinions. We write about places we've actually visited, restaurants where we've actually eaten, and trails we've actually hiked. We aim for accuracy and honesty, but travel information changes — prices go up, restaurants close, bus schedules change, trails get rerouted. We update content regularly but cannot guarantee that every detail is current at all times.

Not a Travel Agency

This bears repeating: we are not a travel agency. We do not take bookings. We do not arrange transportation. We do not provide travel planning services. We do not have a travel agency license. Nothing on this site constitutes an offer to sell travel services.

If you contact us asking us to book a hotel, plan an itinerary, or make reservations, we will politely decline. We recommend contacting hotels, ryokan, and tour operators directly. Many ryokan in Izu now have English-language booking pages or English-speaking staff who can handle reservations by phone or email.

We also do not have partnerships with any hotels, ryokan, restaurants, or tour operators. We do not receive commissions for recommendations. When we suggest a place, it's because we genuinely think it's good, not because we're being paid to promote it.

Use at Your Own Risk

Travel involves inherent risks. Hiking trails can be dangerous, especially in bad weather. Onsen bathing has health considerations — the high temperatures can be dangerous for people with certain medical conditions. Seafood can cause allergic reactions. Roads can be hazardous. Wildlife encounters are possible.

We provide safety information where relevant — trail difficulty ratings, onsen etiquette guides, warnings about seasonal conditions. However, you are solely responsible for your own safety and well-being when traveling. We are not liable for any injury, illness, loss, damage, or inconvenience that occurs as a result of information you found on this site.

Always check current conditions before traveling. Weather forecasts, trail conditions, road closures, and facility operating hours can change. Verify critical information (especially transportation schedules and facility hours) independently before your trip.
